Melissa Egan, DVM

Dr. Melissa Egan joined Richmond Veterinary Clinic in 2023. She lived in Virginia for the previous ten years but was happy to return to her hometown of Lexington. She worked with Dr. Putnam early in her career and is excited to be part of his team again.

Dr. Egan has always loved all animals and worked for many years as a veterinary technician during and after graduating from the University of Kentucky. After attending Ross University and Auburn University, she realized her dream of becoming a veterinarian and is grateful to be doing what she loves and is passionate about.

Helping pets and their caregivers is extremely fulfilling. Dr. Egan strives to discover and address underlying causes for complex issues, and not merely treat symptoms. She also treasures her relationships with pet parents, working with them to find the best options for their family and pet.

Dr. Egan enjoys hiking, reading and traveling. But she most loves spending time with her family: her husband John, her sisters, her cats Kato and Bo, and her Australian Cattle Dog mix Rocky.
