Michael Putnam, DVM
Chief of Staff
Dr. Michael Putnam, RVC's Chief of Staff, is a 1990 graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a B.S. in Zoology and a minor in Chemistry. He is a 1995 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Putnam is also a COSA (Chief of Staff Advisor) for over 25 veterinary hospitals in Kentucky, North Carolina and South Carolina and greatly enjoys guiding other doctors in their practices.
Dr. Putnam and his family moved to Richmond, Kentucky after the sale of their Illinois-based veterinary hospital in 2007. While in Illinois, he was the Rabies administrator for Adams and McDonough Counties. During that time, Dr. Putnam was also in charge of the local animal shelter. Under his management, they were able to achieve the highest adoption rate and lowest euthanasia rate for that shelter in more than 30 years.
Dr. Putnam is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association. He and his wife Tammy (Hospital Manager at Richmond Veterinary Clinic) share their home with 3 furbabies: Cash, a Border Collie/Sheltie mix, Ducky, an Australian Shepherd and Macy, a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix.
Dr. Putnam's passion is veterinary medicine and he believes, "There is not a better hospital to be a part of, and it shows in the way we are there for our clients and patients!!"
